5 out of 5 stars Squaretrade is as good as their word! (don't throw away your receipt)   April 6, 2009

I purchased a 42" flat screen tv a few years ago, and was naturally concerned about what to do after the 1 year manufacturer's warranty had expired. The store offered its own extended warranty program, but I was hesitant about putting down hundreds of dollars for a 3 year extended warranty. Surely there was something more economical with the same, or better service?

I heard, via word of mouth, of a third-party alternative called Squaretrade. Intrigued, I checked reseller ratings, and was very shocked to see a lifetime rating of 9.7. I read many of the reviews, and they all consistently praised ST's dedication to fulfilling its warranty promises. Of the few that were not pleased with ST service (and some of them were the customer's fault), I was impressed by the follow-up messages left by ST's representatives to resolve the situation.

Convinced, I ended up purchasing a 3 year warranty through Squaretrade, for just ~$40. ST runs monthly %-off discounts, so you can always get a very good bargain. To clarify, if I remember correctly, the 3 year warranty is really a 2 year warranty, since the first year overlaps with the first year of the manufacturer's warranty. However, you should read the fine print to double check.

Talk about knocking on wood. My TV broke recently, and so I submitted my claim form to ST, which primarily comprised faxing a copy of my receipt to them (don't throw it away!), and describing my problem. I was expecting a reply a few months later, but Squaretrade promises resolution in less than week. I was shocked to find in my email inbox, a message from ST indicating that since it was cost prohibitive to ship my TV back to them for repairs, they would instead be refunding my original purchase price in its entirety, through PayPal. Sure enough, the money was sent the next day.

This is legendary service, the kind consumers dream about. You can buy a ST warranty with complete confidence, and be assured of their guarantees. Regarding TVs, they will not cover certain issues, e.g. burn-in on a plasma, and lamp replacements on DLPs. Again, check the fine print (don't worry, there's not too much to read).

I'm going to be buying all my warranties through ST in the future, recommending them to my friends and families, and making sure my children, and my children's children buy Squaretrade warranties. I wholeheartedly recommend them (and no, I'm not getting paid by ST to write this review).

I have tried to use company warranties and fight and fight with manufactures. this time i bought a warranty from square trade and held my breath six months later the tv went dead. i reported it 24 hours later i was sent a link saying a refund was approved and a free mailing label to return it 2 days after they received it i got a refund. It can't get better than this !!! I know have 3 warraties with them and today it will be 4 with the one i bought for my replacement TV. great company

5 out of 5 stars So far, so good ...   February 20, 2010

I ordered the Mitsubishi WD-73C9, and a different warranty (provided by the same company) at the same time in November of 2009. I checked Amazon's website in December just to see if the product I originally purchased was still the same price. It just so happened to be cheaper (or so I thought).

I emailed SQUARETRADE asking to be refunded the difference. I immediately put the situation to the back of my mind, expecting a reply about a month later. To my surprise, a rep replied within the next business day.

The rep courteously advised me to cancel the first warranty I had in the system (which is VERY easily done by going to their website), and then place a new order for the correct warranty product. And the rep assured me that I would receive a FULL MONEY REFUND for the incorrectly purchased product after the cancellation. And the rep also said that since I've already emailed a copy of the receipt, of the television I purchased from Amazon, that I would not have to go through that process again.

So I did all of those things. And everything happened just the way the SQUARETRADE rep said it would. I recevied a FULL MONEY REFUND from the incorrectly purchased warranty product; placed a new order for the correct product; received confirmation for all of those previously stated transactions; and when I checked my account on SQUARETRADE's website, it shows that my receipt, for the television, has been appropriately associated.

Customer service is, so far, excellent! Let's hope I'll never have to use the warranty, but it is a peace of mind.

5 out of 5 stars Square trade Warranty worked for me!!!!!   March 18, 2010

I got a warranty from this company when I bought my LCD TV. my TV died and they were great in how they dealt with me and lived up to their word perfectly. I was dubious when I got the warranty from them, because price was less than what stores offered, but they went above and beyond in my dealings with them. I would and will recommend them to everyone I know.

5 out of 5 stars Square Trade warranty on LCD TV   March 18, 2010

First experience with Square Trade. It was an inexpensive warranty I tacked on to a refurbished Philips LCD TV that I purchased on [...]. Used the TV about 4 times before it just quit working. Philips jacked me around for a replacement for about a month and then sent me a piece of USED garbage. I told them to keep it and started a claim with Square Trade. Within a week, I had my purchase price money back from Square Trade. I was very happy with the warranty as well as the service. I've since bought several other warranties from Square Trade as well. Philips will NEVER get any more business from me, ever.

Square Trade rocks!
